While the wake is the primary place for remembering and celebrating the person’s life in this world, at the Funeral Mass itself a brief “Word of Gratitude” may be given by one family member or friend. The written script, no longer than 5 minutes total, must be submitted to the parish office at least 24 hours before the Mass.
