Roof Replacement at St. Mary Church

Home  /  Parish News  /  Roof Repla...

We are pleased to announce that work will commence Monday, July 6, on replacement of the main roof on St. Mary Church. This project was thoroughly studied by the Parish Finance Council and Trustees (including review of proposals from five reputable contractors), submitted to Archbishop Coyne for his approval, and reviewed by Archdiocesan legal counsel for conformity with customary standards.

We anticipate minimal inconvenience to Sunday Mass-goers (mostly just the loss of a few parking spaces to construction equipment). During the week, construction activity will begin daily at 9:00 a.m. Once Mass has concluded, and for the remainder of the day, entrance to and egress from the church will be restricted to the two doors on the parking lot side of the church. Caution tape will be used to prevent access to and from the Parish Center connector, and access to the parish office will be limited to the official entrance doors.

Parish groups and ministries holding evening meetings should use the Parish Center entry doors, observing any special signage. When in doubt, please contact the office (203-488-1607) during the day.

Because construction material and debris (nails, screws, etc.) may end up in various locations around the church property while the project is underway, it’s important for everyone’s safety that due caution be observed in moving around the grounds.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
